The Deer on the Hunt. Wikimedia. Why Deer Never Eat Men: -all the animals gathered and discussed their source of food -the wolf says that deer will be his main source of food -the deer responds by saying that deer are too quick and swift, and the wolf would never be able to catch deer and eat them -then the deer discussed that they will eat humans because there are an excess of them (specifically Indians) in the countryside -the animals were shocked to hear the deer say this because Indians were believed to be too strong and powerful, but the deer did not care and they said that deer will eat Indians anyway and no matter what the others think because the deer didn't care -After this one deer went hunting, he saw a few Indians in the woods and believed it would be simple to hunt them because there were so many of them -Once the deer began stalking his prey (the Indian), the man noticed the deer was following closely -The hunter took his bow and arrow and shot the deer, t

Tech Tip: Canvas Profile

Tech Tip: Canvas Profile I changed my display name on my canvas profile, and I added a fun design/pattern instead of adding a personal photo to my profile. Also, I included my college and major in my bio, and this will allow for students and professors to learn a little about me through my profile!

Monkey King Unit Here are notes on some of my favorite stories from this section! Week 8: Progress!

Image
Looking back and Looking Forward: I am happy with my progress, but I would like to get ahead on my assignments. I have a good weekly routine, but I think I would enjoy the assignments more if I did not procrastinate as much. I have used some of the "tech tips" for extra credit, and I plan take advantage of more extra credit options too! This semester I am going to challenge myself to get ahead, and this will help me avoid feeling stressed or rushed when doing assignments. I think spring break will be a good time for me to get ahead on my assignments and project! "Learning to Ride". Flickr . This image is motivation for me! When I look at this image of a kid learning to ride a bike, it reminds me that I can learn and accomplish my goals too! :)

Week 8: Comments and Feedback!

Image
I believe feedback is very important for improvement, so I really appreciate constructive criticism from others. I enjoy building people up and giving compliments, so it is difficult for me to correct others and critique their work. My favorite feedback technique is the W WW: wow - I wonder - what if strategy. Using this strategy has helped me give constructive criticism and give positive comments/compliments at the same time. I really like this strategy, and it has helped me improve the quality of my comments and feedback for other students. Reading my classmates introductions is a fun way to learn about them and get to know them. Normally, in an online course, the students feel isolated and disconnected because they have never meet their classmates. This gives students a great way to meet others in the course and connect via online platforms. "Feedback Cat". Growth Mindset Resources. Week 8: Reading and Writing!

Image
1. My favorite reading assignment so far has been the Tibetan Folk Tales Unit. I really enjoyed this unit because there were various short stories. They were fun to read, and I even read some of them to the children I nanny! They thought the stories were a little strange, but they enjoyed hearing the stories about the frog king and the stories with the talking animals.  My reading notes have been very helpful to me because I can refer back to them we doing the storytelling assignment, and the summaries help me remember the lesson and the important aspects in each story. I struggle with creative writing, so I am proud of what I have come up with so far for my project. The project has probably been the biggest challenge for me because writing original stories takes a lot of my time. It normally takes me hours to finish a story, and then another to proof read it. I am happy with how my project is turning out though, so I hope that my hard work pays off. 2.  I really like thi

Week 7 Story: The Fox and His Family

Image
There once was a fox family who lived in the woods. Tod was the youngest member of the family. He had a mother, a father, an older sister, and a big brother.  One night they were sleeping in their home, and they woke up because they smelled burning wood. They came out of their burrow and saw that the entire forest around them was in flames. They were very scared and had to create a quick plan to get to safety. So, they decided the best place to go was to the watering hole. Tod's father told the family, "Follow me to the watering hole, quickly." When they reached the watering hole, they were relieved but exhausted from running.  It was extremely crowded at the watering hole because many other animals had the same plan as the fox family, so the fox family looked for a less crowded spot to lay down and relax.  Looking around at her exhausted family, mother asked, “Where’s Tod?” They began to worry that maybe he got lost or didn’t make it to the watering hol
