Time Strategies for Success

Image
These articles were insightful, and both had many great recommendations and ideas regarding time management. (Image Information: Stressed; Web Source: flickr .) The Myth of "Too Busy"  was an interesting article about prioritizing one's time. A person should prioritize in this order: the top priority should be his or her necessary, routine tasks, following those should be other significant yet random tasks the person needs to complete, and the last on the list of priorities are the unnecessary tasks, time-fillers, and activities (i.e. social media, hobbies, etc.). It is important that a person does not avoid important tasks because procrastination can be detrimental. Four Questions to Help You Overcome Procrastination  discusses how the beginning of a project is the most challenging part. People can often become overwhelmed and unsure of where to start. After a person overcomes the beginning obstacle, he or she often will have more motivation to continue on with...

Technology Tools

(Image Information: Google website screenshot; Web Source: flickr .) I have heard of some of these websites and tools, but I haven't had the opportunity to actually use many of these tools and sites that were listed. I'm looking forward to this course because it gives students the opportunity to use their creativity and use new tools when completing assignments.  It's common to feel disconnected from other classmates during an online course, so I'm glad this course gets students involved and participating in new ways (i.e. blogging and commenting).

Assignments!

I have never had a blog before, so it's been fun getting to use Blogger for assignments. I have enjoyed the assignments, but so far this course has been a little overwhelming for me. I did not expect there to be so many due dates within one week. I hope the personalized schedule will make it easier to meet deadlines and will make the class more enjoyable. Growth Mindset >>>>> Fixed Mindset

I enjoyed the second video, “Make Challenge the New Comfort Zone,” because Carol discusses how students should strive to challenge themselves instead of taking the easy way out. Students should desire to feel challenged and to constantly improve. It seems backwards that a student would feel gratification when they accomplish something simple like receiving an A by cheating on a test. Students cannot improve that way and will not actually be learning anything with that type of mindset. Schools need to emphasize the importance of the learning process and should not stress the final letter grade as much. Students can develop a growth mindset if they understand that success and improvement come from a process involving hard work and effort. Once they appreciate this they can then begin to approach life with a growth mindset and be a continual learner. Introduction of a Ravenclaw

Image
My name is Victoria, but I go by Tori. I am a senior, and I graduate in May 2018.   I am studying Business: Human Resources Management, and the Price College of Business is actually stopping this program after students graduate in May 2018. So, those graduating in May are the last ones to graduate with a degree in Business Human Resource Management from OU. It is sad to know the program is no longer going to be offered because I really have enjoyed it so far, but it is kind of cool to know that I will be one of the last ones to graduate with this degree from OU. My biggest accomplishment was balancing school, work, and activities. I enjoy staying busy and getting involved on campus and in the community. I work at a department of OU, The Center for Teaching Excellence, as a student office assistant. I have held my position there for over 2 years. Also, I participate in a few other organizations on and off campus. Over Christmas break I spent a lot of time with my family. ...
